Climate

Marbella´s position, in the shelter of the mountain slopes of the Sierra Blanca, gives the city a microclimate that is unique in Europe. In August, the average minimum daytime temperature is 30.4ºC, while the January average maximum temperature is 16ºC. For years, Marbella has drawn visitors from all over Europe, attracted by the mild climate, the natural and artistic riches of the region, and the chance to practice their favorite outdoor sports all year round. Golf

Excellent Golfing Facilities

As far as golf is concerned, the region has the highest density of golfing facilities on the European continent, designed by, amongst others, Gary Player and Severiano Ballesteros. In fact, the golfing facilities on the Costa del Sol are so numerous and of such quality that it has been dubbed the "Costa del Golf" and green fees are amongst the most price competitive in Europe, averaging out at just under 40 Euros per round. Every type of player is catered for: those who love competition, those who prefer a less complicated game, or those who simply want to play a round for pleasure.

This concentration of quality golf courses, combined with the unique sunny and warm winter climate enjoyed by the region, led to the Costa del Sol as becoming an unrivalled winter golf destination for northern Europeans, who while emerging as a serious force at all levels of golf, were deprived of the opportunity to play during the harsh winter months. When Valderrama was chosen to host the Ryder Cup in 1997, the Costa del Golf received universal recognition as the finest winter golf resort in Europe.

Entertainment

There is also the pleasure port of Cabopino noted for its charm and off the beaten track location, as well as Puerto Banus being the largest and most famous marina in Marbella. Since its conception in 1968 it has attracted the rich and famous from all over the world to its restaurants, bars, discos, boutiques and casino. Here you will be able to cast your eye over the luxury million euro yachts and cruisers, whilst having your favorite drink from one of the many open air bars and watch the world go by and even possibly seeing a famous face or two!

With a concentration of restaurants offering cuisines from all over the world as well as the local tastes of southern Spain, you will not find yourselves running out of places to eat even if you were to live here all the yearlong! In most supermarkets you will also be able to find your favorite food from home as well as the healthy Mediterranean foods of fish, fruit and vegetables.
